Contribution |
| A travelling exhibition of photographs showing people from the city’s black and minority ethnic community will visit five libraries from next month.
Starting at Hove Library from 1-24 April, ‘Contribution’ displays the pictures alongside views and thoughts of the people shown about their experiences of Brighton & Hove.
All except one of the 21 people featured in the exhibition live in Brighton & Hove, and one works in the city.
The photographs and text were put together by Beth Harrison of Brighton and Hove Black History.
Beth explained: “We wanted to bring black history up to the present day by doing a simple exhibition that showed how Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) people are contributing to the city now.
“BME people are often portrayed in a stereotypical way that can underrate their contribution, so our exhibition aims to show individuals for who they are.”
The exhibition can also be seen at Hangleton Library (4-30 July); and Jubilee Library (4-30 August).
